A demonstration of Chroma Interactive Acrylics at the SAA Show in London 2011.  

The painting is of Portofino - a beautifull little port in Italy.

In July 2010, I was demonstrating Chroma Interactive Acrylics at the SAA Show in London. One of the paintings I made over the 3 day event was filmed - a special one fo me as it's the village where I live in the South of France. 

I split the demonstration into  two 45 minute sessions. The first - a rough underpainting showing a lot of wet-in-wet techniques, then there was a Q & A break followed by the 2nd half where I finished the painting.

We were fortunate enough to get to know Architect and Illustrator Mikko (Michael Lindell) who was staying at the hotel during one of our painting courses. He's actually a very successful cartoonist who's had his work in leading publications all over the world. See his cartoons from the course.

I wanted to catch the soft hazy sunlight on this very distant landscape of the River Var looking down from Gattière towards Nice airport.

I made this short demo in Place Centrale in the middle of Nice Old Town. It shows the whole process from sketching in the composition right through to the final balancing of tones and colours.

My aim was to capture the power of the midday sunlight and the busy atmosphere of so many people in the middle of summer 

I made this short video to demonstrate how Chroma Interactive Acrylics can be used to work wet-in-wet using their unique rehydration quality to delay drying. 

A view of one of the most famous villages in France. This demonstration shows how to achieve strong aerial perspective, pushing the village right back into the distance.
